Westside is a privately owned dam located in Campbell, Wyoming, near BNSF Railroad. The dam, completed in 2012, serves the primary purpose of flood risk reduction along Porcupine Creek. It is a 23-foot high earth dam with a stone core, standing at a structural height of 22 feet and a hydraulic height of 14 feet. The dam has a storage capacity of 575 acre-feet and covers a surface area of 47 acres, with a drainage area of 56 square miles.
With a spillway width of 100 feet and a maximum discharge of 3,789 cubic feet per second, Westside poses a high hazard potential. Despite this, the dam's condition assessment in 2017 deemed it to be satisfactory. The dam is regulated and inspected by the Wyoming State Engineer's Office, with enforcement and permitting also under state jurisdiction. Although the dam has an associated emergency action plan, its last revision date was in 2017, and it is unclear if it meets current guidelines. Westside presents a moderate risk, which suggests the need for ongoing risk management measures to ensure the safety of the surrounding area and the dam structure itself.
