Summary

The snowpack rests at just 4 inches—significantly below seasonal averages—making for limited terrain and early-season conditions. No new snow is in the immediate forecast, so snowmaking operations are in full swing to bolster coverage. Expect groomed runs with some thin spots, especially on lower elevations. Night skiing remains a unique draw, with “Midnight Madness” sessions lighting up the slopes and offering an electric atmosphere after dark.

Big changes are underway at the mountain as Vail Resorts finalizes its acquisition of Crotched, alongside sister peaks Wildcat and Attitash, signaling major investment in lift infrastructure and guest experience. The long-anticipated Southern New Hampshire debut of a detachable quad is set to reduce lift lines and enhance access this season. While the ski area continues to evolve, the surrounding community is also seeing changes—Crotched Mountain School will remain open under new ownership following recent uncertainty, preserving a vital institution in the region. Despite the light snow base, the mountain buzzes with anticipation as guests look forward to a revitalized season under new leadership and lights.
