Upper Piney Camp is located in the Sierra National Forest in California, and it offers scenic views of the surrounding pine trees and nearby mountains. The campground is situated near the Kings River and is just a few miles away from Cedar Grove Village. The village features a visitor center, picnic areas, and a market. The campground is equipped with picnic tables, campfire rings, and vault toilets but no potable water. It has eight first-come-first-serve campsites, and it is ideal for tents or small RVs.
An interesting feature of the area is that it was once home to the Monachee people, who used the land for hunting and gathering. The best time to visit Upper Piney Camp is from June to September when the temperature is between 75°F and 85°F during the day and drops to 50°F at night.
The campground is a great base for outdoor activities like hiking, swimming, and fishing. The nearby Kings Canyon National Park offers exciting hiking trails and superb scenery. Some popular trails include Zumwalt Meadow Trail, Mist Falls Trail, and the Cedar Grove Nature Trail. Swimming areas like the Roaring River Falls and Grizzly Falls are located a short distance from the campsite. Fishing enthusiasts can try their luck at the Kings River, which is home to various species of fish like Rainbow and Brown Trout.
