A wilderness permit is required; reservations via Recreation.gov are mandatory year-round. There are no fees beyond the permit. Campsites have pit toilets but no potable water—treat lake water. No fire rings, grills, picnic tables, or RV access; fires are prohibited. Expect a serene alpine setting surrounded by forest and mountain views. Popular via the Hoh River Trail (17.5 miles one-way), it's ideal for experienced backpackers. Summer through early fall (July–September) offers the best conditions. Nearby attractions include Mount Olympus and scenic alpine lakes.
