Summary

Shore Campground, located on the eastern shore of Boysen Reservoir in Wyoming’s Boysen State Park, offers established campsites with both reservation and first-come, first-served options. Sites include fire rings/grills, picnic tables, vault toilets, and lakefront access, but no water or hookups—RVs are welcome but self-contained units are best. There are no individual site fees beyond the state park entry fee. The camping vibe is open and arid with stunning reservoir views and distant mountain backdrops. Popular for boating, fishing, and nearby hiking in Wind River Canyon. Best visited May–September for warm weather and full water access. Primitive but scenic.

Camping Essential Practices

Pack It In, Pack It Out
Take all trash, food scraps, and gear back with you to keep campsites clean and protect wildlife.
Respect Wildlife
Observe animals from a distance, store food securely, and never feed wildlife to maintain natural behavior and safety.
Know Before You Go
Check weather, fire restrictions, trail conditions, and permit requirements to ensure a safe and well-planned trip.
Minimize Campfire Impact
Use established fire rings, keep fires small, fully extinguish them, or opt for a camp stove when fires are restricted.
Leave What You Find
Preserve natural and cultural features by avoiding removal of plants, rocks, artifacts, or other elements of the environment.
