The ideal streamflow range for this section of the river is between 200 and 500 cfs, with higher flows being more challenging and requiring more experienced paddlers. The class rating for this segment of the river is Class IV-V, with steep drops and technical rapids. The segment mileage is approximately 5 miles long, with several challenging rapids and obstacles, including the infamous "Screaming Left" rapid.
As for regulations, all boaters are required to have a valid Colorado Parks and Wildlife watercraft registration and must wear a personal flotation device (PFD) at all times while on the river. Additionally, there are restrictions on the use of motorized watercraft, and boaters are required to follow Leave No Trace principles to protect the natural environment.
