The Upper Colorado River offers Class I-II rapids with a few minor obstacles such as rocks and small drops. This section is great for families and beginners and can be floated from May to September with a recommended flow of 1,000-3,000 CFS. The Lower Colorado River offers Class III rapids with larger drops, waves, and obstacles such as S-bends and rock gardens. This section is better suited for experienced paddlers and can be floated from May to June with a recommended flow of 1,500-4,000 CFS.
