Evans Bend
One of the unique things that visitors to the Evans Bend may see is the Gates of the Mountains, a natural landmark where the Missouri River narrows and cliffs rise on both sides of the river. The Gates of the Mountains were named by Meriwether Lewis of the Lewis and Clark Expedition in 1805. Visitors can take a boat tour that follows the same path as the expedition, allowing them to see the landscape as Lewis and Clark did over 200 years ago. The area is also home to the Dearborn River, which is known for its clear waters and scenic canyon. Visitors can hike along the river or fish for trout in its waters. Additionally, the Evans Bend is located near several recreational areas, including the Helena National Forest and the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail, making it an excellent base for exploring the region.
