Located in Boone, Iowa, the Dnr Wetlands Dam is a state-regulated structure owned by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Completed in 1984, this earth dam serves primarily for recreational purposes, with a height of 10 feet and a length of 532 feet. Situated in the SAYLORVILLE RESERVOIR area, the dam holds a storage capacity of 98 acre-feet and covers a surface area of 12 acres.

With a low hazard potential and a moderate risk assessment rating, the Dnr Wetlands Dam has not been rated for its condition as of yet. Although the last inspection took place in May 1989, the dam continues to be maintained and operated by the Iowa DNR. While its purpose is primarily for recreational use, the dam also serves to protect the surrounding environment and wildlife in the area.

Even though the Dnr Wetlands Dam does not have an Emergency Action Plan (EAP) in place, the structure meets regulatory guidelines and has not experienced any major modifications since its completion. As a vital component of the local water resource infrastructure, the dam plays a crucial role in managing water levels and ensuring the safety of residents in the area. For water resource and climate enthusiasts, the Dnr Wetlands Dam serves as a fascinating example of how human-made structures can harmoniously coexist with the natural environment.
