Private Dam, located in Lawrence, Kansas, was completed in 1996 with a primary purpose of flood risk reduction along Baldwin Creek. Owned privately, this earth-type dam stands at a height of 24.3 feet and has a length of 870 feet, providing a storage capacity of 129 acre-feet. The dam also serves purposes of debris control and recreation, with a surface area of 7.67 acres and a drainage area of 0.48 square miles.

Designed by Dale Steward, P.E., Private Dam is regulated by the state of Kansas and has a low hazard potential. Despite not being regularly inspected or assessed for conditions, the dam is not currently rated for its condition. With no emergency action plan in place, the dam's last inspection was conducted in May 1996.
