Completed in 1948, this dam serves primarily for recreational purposes, with a height of 15 feet and a length of 200 feet. Its reservoir has a storage capacity of 855 acre-feet, with a surface area of 100 acres and a drainage area of 8.1 square miles. The dam's spillway, which is uncontrolled, has a width of 140 feet and can discharge up to 3700 cubic feet per second.
Managed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), Windover Lake Dam has a low hazard potential and its condition is currently not rated. The last inspection conducted in May 2017 revealed that the dam meets regulatory guidelines and poses a moderate risk level. While there is no Emergency Action Plan (EAP) in place, the dam's risk management measures are under assessment. Its association with Baker Brook and proximity to the Buffalo District indicate its significance in water resource management and climate resilience efforts in the region.
