Summary

Originally constructed in the 1940s, the lake was created by damming Prairie Creek, a tributary of the Sabine River. The reservoir has a surface area of 2,224 acres and a maximum depth of 40 feet. It primarily serves as a source of drinking water for the surrounding area, and also provides opportunities for fishing and boating. The lake is fed by surface runoff and groundwater, as well as by snowpack from periodic winter storms. Agriculture is another important use of the area, with numerous farms and ranches located nearby. Despite its relatively small size, LK Tyler plays an important role in the hydrology and ecology of the region, and is a vital resource for the local community.
