Dys Dam, located in Richland, South Carolina, was completed in 1965 and is owned by the state. The dam, designed by the USDA NRCS, stands at a height of 21 feet and has a length of 371 feet. Its primary purpose is for fire protection, stock, or as a small fish pond, with a maximum storage capacity of 153 acre-feet.
Managed by the SC DHEC, Dys Dam is classified as having a low hazard potential and fair condition assessment. The dam is equipped with uncontrolled spillways and outlet gates. Despite its moderate risk assessment rating, the dam has not undergone any recent modifications and is inspected every five years to ensure its safety and integrity.
