Lula is a privately owned earth dam located in Johnson County, Wyoming, specifically in the city of Arvada. Built in 1963, this structure serves multiple purposes including fire protection, stock watering, and small fish pond maintenance. With a height of 35 feet and a hydraulic height of 30 feet, Lula has a storage capacity of 81 acre-feet and a normal storage level of 50 acre-feet. The dam spans 278 feet in length and has a surface area of 5 acres, with a spillway width of 20 feet.

Despite its low hazard potential, Lula is currently in poor condition and has not been adequately maintained. The last inspection conducted in September 2020 revealed that the dam requires attention to ensure its structural integrity and long-term functionality. With a moderate risk assessment rating of 3, there is a need for risk management measures to be implemented to safeguard the surrounding community and environment. As a water resource and climate enthusiast, monitoring and addressing the condition of dams like Lula is essential to maintaining the safety and sustainability of our water infrastructure.
