About this resort

Snow Bluff

Snow Bluff ski resort in Missouri offers various trails for all skill levels, with the best ones being the intermediate and advanced runs. The resort has a vertical drop of 300 feet and features four lifts. An interesting fact about Snow Bluff is that it was originally owned by the Walt Disney Company in the 1980s. For beginner skiers, the Gentle Ben trail is recommended as it has a gradual slope, perfect for learning. After a long day on the slopes, the best apres ski bar is the Snow Bluff Pub which offers a cozy atmosphere, great drinks, and live music on the weekends.

Terrain mix: Snow-Bluff Ski Resort in Missouri does not have any pertinent mountain ranges or significant mountain aspects. The resort is located in the Ozarks region of Missouri, which is characterized by rolling hills and wooded areas rather than towering mountains. Snow-Bluff Ski Resort offers skiing and snowboarding on man-made slopes with artificial snow, making it a popular destination for winter sports enthusiasts in the region.

949 FXUS63 KSGF 150822 AFDSGF Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Springfield MO 322 AM CDT Wed Jul 15 2026 .KEY MESSAGES... - 50-80% coverage of thunderstorms today (mainly along/south of I-44) and Thursday (entire area) afternoons with localized heavy rainfall. - Warm with low chance for isolated showers and storms this weekend into early next week, with heat index values around 100 degrees. && .SHORT TERM /THROUGH THURSDAY/... Issued at 243 AM CDT Wed Jul 15 2026 A strong upper high over the northern plains will keep an upper that is currently over AR/MS border meandering to the west over the next couple of days. For today, areas along/south of I-44 will see the greatest coverage of showers and storms at 50-80%, with 10-30% north of there. Some storms are already occuring along the MO/AR border, but greatest coverage is expected this afternoon. MLCAPE values of 1,000-1,500 J/kg and weak shear will prevent any severe weather concerns. However, slow storm motions may lead to very localized heavy rainfall, with REFS and HREF PMM values of 2-3 inches. Any flooding concern would be minor and very isolated. Otherwise, look for highs in the 80s to around 90 today. Thursday will overall be a very similar setup, but the low will have moved west and closer to the CWA, putting the entire area under the 50-80% storm coverage. Otherwise, all else remains the same as Wednesday. && .LONG TERM /THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY/... Issued at 243 AM CDT Wed Jul 15 2026 Isolated to scattered summer time showers and storms will be a possibility each day in the long term, but most areas will be dry during this period. NW flow will shift a warmer airmass building over the western US into the area this weekend into early next week. Look for highs in the mid 90s to around 100 Saturday through Tuesday with heat index values around 100 (possibly into the mid single digits above 100). Heat Risk in the major category is expected area-wide Sunday and Monday, with moderate to borderline major Saturday and Tuesday. && .AVIATION /06Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z THURSDAY/... Issued at 1221 AM CDT Wed Jul 15 2026 Thunderstorms will be possible over the next few hours at KBBG. Otherwise, look for increasing changes for scattered thunderstorms at KSGF and KBBG Wednesday afternoon and evening, while Joplin only sees around a 30% chance. && .SGF WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... Mountain & avalanche safety

Know before you go
Check today's avalanche bulletin from the regional avalanche center before any off-piste / side-country / backcountry travel. Conditions can shift dramatically between morning and afternoon on storm days.
Carry the gear, know how to use it
Beacon, shovel, probe. Practice companion rescue on a calm day, not during a real burial.
Mind the weather window
Heavy snow + wind builds wind slabs at ridgelines. The day after a storm is often the riskiest in the backcountry, even if the resort itself is open.
Respect closed terrain
Ropes are there for a reason. Even in-bounds, ducking a closure can trigger a slide that catches you and others below.

FAQ

About Snow Bluff

Where does the snow data for Snow Bluff come from?

Snowpack, SWE, 24-hour snowfall, and air temperature come from the nearest USDA NRCS SNOTEL station. Forecast comes from the National Weather Service / yr.no feed that Snoflo's iOS app uses.

How often is the snow report updated?

Snowpack and SNOTEL data are updated continuously by NRCS (typically hourly). The 15-day weather forecast is refreshed throughout the day. Snoflo caches and renders the most recent observation -- look for the "as of" timestamp on the snowpack hero.

What's the elevation at Snow Bluff?

See the Resort Metrics panel above for base / summit / vertical drop. The summit elevation drives snowpack accumulation -- higher summits hold snow longer through spring.

How is "% of normal" calculated?

Today's snowpack is compared to the average snowpack on this calendar day across every recorded year at the nearest SNOTEL. 100% means right on average; 130% is a big year; 60% is thin.

What ski resorts are near Snow Bluff?

See the Other Ski Areas pill grid at the bottom of the page for resorts within driving distance. The sister Other Ski Areas card in the Plan-a-longer-trip grid above shows the closest few.

Can I get alerts when fresh snow hits?

Yes -- snow alerts are managed in the Snoflo iOS app. Favorite this resort, set a snowfall threshold (e.g. "alert me when 6+ inches"), and you'll get a push the moment the SNOTEL crosses.
