Angel Fire Resort wakes up to a crisp morning at 27.7°F on March 31, 2025, with blue skies and a dusting of snow on the slopes. The snowpack sits at just 1 inch—well below average for this time of year—but there’s still stoke in the air. Despite the lean base, the resort is holding on with groomed runs and spring-like conditions, thanks to overnight freezing temps and a dedicated grooming team. With 3.3 inches of snow expected over the next 72 hours and a total of 6 inches forecasted in the next five days, a fresh layer may arrive just in time to revive the terrain for late-season turns.

On the news front, Angel Fire continues to shine beyond the snow reports. The iconic World Famous Shovel Race Championships made a thrilling return, turning the slopes into a high-speed spectacle. A newly added expert run adds variety for advanced skiers hungry for challenge, while family-friendly offerings like free lift tickets for kids are making Angel Fire a favorite for spring break travelers. As the season winds down, the resort remains a hub of mountain culture and community spirit—don’t miss your chance to carve into the fun before the lifts stop spinning.

The best trails include Exhibition, a black diamond run with steep pitches and moguls, and High Five, a blue square run with beautiful views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. An interesting fact about the resort is that it was originally developed in the 1960s by a group of Texas businessmen who wanted to create a ski resort closer to their home state. For beginner skiers, we recommend trying out the Perfect Progression program which offers personalized instruction and easy-to-ride lifts. After a day on the slopes, head to The Lift House Bar and Grill for an après ski drink and live music.
