The Rio Grande River Segment C is an ideal destination for whitewater enthusiasts in Colorado. The ideal streamflow range for this section is between 150 and 800 cfs, with the best season being from May to July. The river is rated as Class II-IV, making it perfect for intermediate to advanced paddlers.
The segment spans approximately 33 miles and features a variety of rapids and obstacles, including the infamous South Fork Rapid, which is a Class IV rapid that requires precise navigation through a narrow channel. Other notable rapids include Wagon Wheel, Three Forks, and Sunshine Rapid.
