Cummings Reservoir No 2, also known as Upper Cummings, is a federal water resource located in Modoc, California. Constructed in 1910 by the USDA Forest Service, this earth dam stands at a height of 7 feet with a length of 1394 feet, serving primarily for irrigation purposes. With a storage capacity of 300 acre-feet, this reservoir has a controlled spillway type with a width of 20 feet and a low hazard potential rating.

Despite its age, Cummings Reservoir No 2 remains in good condition, with a low risk assessment rating. Even though the last inspection was conducted in 2010, the structure has not been rated for its current condition. However, it should be noted that the reservoir does not have an emergency action plan (EAP) in place, which raises concerns about its readiness in case of potential risks or emergencies.

Managed and funded by the Forest Service, Cummings Reservoir No 2 plays a crucial role in water supply and irrigation in the region. With its historical significance and ongoing operation, this reservoir continues to be a valuable resource for the surrounding community, highlighting the importance of maintaining and monitoring water infrastructure in the face of changing climate conditions.
