* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
likely become slick and hazardous. Travel could be very difficult
to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday
morning commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.
* WHAT...Heavy snow expected above 5000 feet. Total snow
accumulations of 1 to 2 feet above 5000 feet, with 2 to 5 feet
above 6000 feet. Locally higher amounts at highest peaks. Winds
gusting as high as 55 mph.
* WHERE...West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada and Western Plumas
County/Lassen Park Counties.
* WHEN...From 10 PM this evening to 4 PM PST Monday.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The
hazardous conditions could impact this evening through Monday
morning commutes. Strong winds could cause tree damage.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow levels 6500-7500 feet tonight into
Saturday morning, lowering to 5000 to 6000 feet Saturday afternoon
into Sunday, and further to around 4500 to 5500 feet by early
Monday morning. Heaviest snow expected on Sunday.
* WHAT...Heavy snow possible above 5,000 feet. Total snow
accumulations between 12 and 17 inches possible. Winds could gust
as high as 55 mph.
* WHERE...Northern Trinity county. Hwy 3 at Scott Mountain pass may
be impacted.
* WHEN...From Saturday morning through Monday afternoon.
* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely

Locally stronger over the higher terrain.
* WHERE...Higher elevations of interior Humboldt, including Kneeland.
* WHEN...Until 10 PM PST this evening.
* IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines.
Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult,
especially for high profile vehicles. Wind gusts will be
particularly strong along windward ridges and exposed coastal
headlands. There is an increased risk of tree branches and other

* WHAT...For the Coastal Flood Warning, High astronomical tides
and large surf will cause major flooding in low lying areas
along the North Coast. Up to 1.5 foot of saltwater inundation
above ground level is possible in low lying areas near
shorelines and tidal waterways. Between 8.6 and 8.9 feet MLLW
at the Arena Cove gauge is predicted. Between 9.2 and 9.5 feet
MLLW at the Crescent City tide gauge is predicted. For the
Coastal Flood Watch, High astronomical tides and large surf may
cause moderate to major flooding in low lying areas along the
Redwood and Mendocino Coast. Up to 1.5 foot of saltwater
inundation above ground level is possible in low lying areas
near shorelines and tidal waterways.
* WHERE...Coastal Del Norte, Southwestern Humboldt and Mendocino
Coast Counties.
* WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Warning, from 9 AM to 1 PM PST
Saturday. For the Coastal Flood Watch, from Sunday morning
through Sunday afternoon. High tide is at 10:35 AM at the
Cescent City tide gauge. High tide is at 9:51 AM at the Arena
Cove tide gauge. Saltwater inundation will be possible 1 to 2
hours before and after high tide.
* IMPACTS...Several coastal roads may be closed. Low lying
property and some critical infrastructure will be inundated.
These impacts will include, but not limited to, imapcts on
sections of highway 1/101. Shoreline erosion will occur.
* WHAT...For the Coastal Flood Warning, High astronomical tides
and large surf will cause major flooding in low lying areas
around Humboldt Bay. Up to 1.5 feet of saltwater inundation
above ground level is possible in low lying areas near
shorelines and tidal waterways. Between 9.9 and 10.2 feet MLLW
at the north spit tide gauge is predicted. is predicted. For the
Coastal Flood Watch, High astronomical tides and large surf may
cause major flooding in low lying areas around Humboldt Bay. Up
to 1.5 feet of saltwater inundation above ground level is
possible in low lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
* WHERE...Around Humboldt Bay.
* WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Warning, from 9 AM to 1 PM PST
Saturday. For the Coastal Flood Watch, from Sunday morning
through Sunday afternoon. High tide is at 10:45 AM at the
Humboldt Bay North Spit tide gauge. Saltwater inundation will
be possible 1 to 2 hours before and after high tide.
* IMPACTS...Several coastal roads may be closed. Low lying
property and some critical infrastructure will be inundated.
These impacts will include, but not limited to, roadways in King
Salmon and the Arcata bottoms Shoreline erosion will occur.
Rain is expected to start in the south this afternoon and spread
north this evening and overnight. A second round of rain will pick up
Saturday during the day and this will be heavier.
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...A portion of northwest California, including the following
areas, Mendocino Coast, Northeastern Mendocino Interior, Northern
Humboldt Coast, Northern Humboldt Interior, Northern Lake,
Northwestern Mendocino Interior, Southeastern Mendocino Interior,
Southern Humboldt Interior, Southern Lake, Southern Trinity,
Southwestern Humboldt and Southwestern Mendocino Interior.
* WHEN...Through Sunday evening.
* IMPACTS...There will be an increased risk of rock and land slides
along roadways. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
in poor drainage and urban areas. Storm drains and ditches may
become clogged with debris.

- Widespread moderate to heavy rain from two consecutive strong
weather systems will produce 2-4 inches of rainfall Friday
afternoon through late Sunday.

along roadways. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of creeks,
streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Additional rounds of heavy rain are likely again starting today
and continuing through Friday night. An additional 3-6, locally
up to 9 inches of total precipitation is possible through Friday.
There will be breaks in the heavy precipitation, but heavy rain
falling on already saturated ground will promote flooding
impacts. The more widespread moderate to heavy precipitation will
not arrive until Tuesday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Numerous roads will be closed. Low lying property
including homes, businesses, and some critical infrastructure
will be inundated. Some shoreline erosion will occur.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...At the San Francisco tidal gauge, high
tide is expected to be:
2.5 ft above normal (8.3 ft MLLW) at 10:26 AM Saturday 1/3
1.9 ft above normal (7.7 ft MLLW) at 11:18 AM Sunday 1/4
These predictions include up to 1.3 feet of storm surge that
will enhance the astronomical tide and flooding threat. High
tide varies up to 90 minutes earlier or later along the
Pacific Coast and through the San Francisco Bay, respectively.

* WHERE...A portion of central California, including the following
areas, Fresno-Tulare Foothills, Fresno-Tulare Lower Sierra,
Mariposa Madera Foothills, Mariposa-Madera Lower Sierra, San
Joaquin River Canyon, South End Sierra Foothills, South End of the
Lower Sierra and Yosemite Valley.

An Atmospheric River Event will bring moderate to heavy rain this
evening through Monday evening. The prolonged period of rain will
bring the risk of flooding to the Sacramento Valley, Shasta County,
northern Sierra Nevada and adjacent foothills, as well as the
Coastal Range. This will be for elevations below 4000 feet.

* WHERE...A portion of northern California below 4000 feet in
elevation, including the following areas, Sacramento Valley,
Motherlode, Mountains Southwestern Shasta County to Western Colusa
County, Northeast Foothills, and Shasta Lake Area / Northern
Shasta County.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff will result in rises along area rivers,
creeks, streams. Small streams and creeks may rise out of their
banks. Flooding may occur in low-lying, poor drainage, and urban
areas. Mudslides and rockslides may occur in mountain and foothill
areas.
