Leuchte #2, located in Las Animas, Colorado, is a privately owned Earth dam completed in 1973 for the primary purpose of serving as a Fish and Wildlife Pond. With a dam height of 35 feet and a hydraulic height of 32 feet, this structure has a storage capacity of 52 acre-feet and a surface area of 3 acres. The dam is situated on the MIDDLE FK TRUJILLO CR river or stream and is regulated by the Colorado Department of Water Resources.

Despite being classified as having a low hazard potential, Leuchte #2 poses a high risk due to its condition not being rated and the last inspection dating back to August 1989. The dam has not been modified since its completion and does not have a spillway. With a normal storage volume of 42 acre-feet and a maximum discharge of 235 cubic feet per second, the structure's risk management measures and emergency action plan status remain unknown, raising concerns for the safety and management of this water resource in the face of changing climate conditions.
