Billings Lake Wpa 2 Dam, also known as the North Dike, is a Federal-owned structure located in Cavalier, North Dakota. Built in 1999 by the Bureau of Reclamation, this earthen dam serves the primary purpose of flood risk reduction along the Edmore Coulee. With a height of 8 feet and a length of 1562 feet, the dam has a storage capacity of 107 acre-feet and covers a surface area of 12.56 acres.

Managed by the Fish and Wildlife Service, the dam is regulated, inspected, and enforced by the NDSWC in North Dakota. Its low hazard potential and fair condition assessment make it a vital infrastructure for mitigating flood risks in the region. With a maximum discharge capacity of 1737 cubic feet per second and controlled outlet gates, the dam plays a crucial role in managing water flow and protecting surrounding areas from potential inundation.

Despite being last inspected in 2015, the Billings Lake Wpa 2 Dam continues to meet regulatory guidelines and serves as a key component in the state's flood risk management strategy. With its strategic location and design, this dam stands as a testament to the collaborative efforts between federal agencies and local authorities in safeguarding water resources and enhancing climate resilience in North Dakota.
