It is situated on the Pine Creek river and has a maximum discharge of 315 cubic feet per second.

Despite being in fair condition as of the last assessment in February 2019, it is subject to regular state inspection, enforcement, and permitting by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The dam has a normal storage capacity of 1200 acre-feet and a drainage area of 6.6 square miles.
