Across central Illinois, a broad col area remains sandwiched between surface high pressure along the East Coast and a secondary ridge building across the Great Plains. Given limited moisture return and stronger forcing staying displaced well north, frontal precipitation will remain confined to near and north of the IL/WI state line today. Abundant insolation and dry low levels will foster deep atmospheric mixing this afternoon, pushing high temperatures into the mid-to-upper 70s under mostly sunny skies. Monday through Wednesday... The surface ridge axis across the Plains will migrate eastward into the Midwest on Monday.
