Unfortunately, the state of Indiana does not have any ski resorts due to its relatively flat terrain. The closest ski resorts are located in neighboring states such as Michigan, Wisconsin, and Illinois.

However, Indiana does have a rich skiing history dating back to the early 1900s when D.W. McMillan built the first ski jump in the state in Richmond. In the 1930s, the Indianapolis Ski Club was established and offered trips to nearby ski resorts.

Despite the lack of ski resorts in Indiana, residents can still enjoy winter sports at local parks that offer sledding, ice skating, and cross-country skiing. Popular parks for winter sports include Pokagon State Park, Turkey Run State Park, and Brown County State Park.

Overall, the best time to visit these parks for winter sports is typically from December to February when there is a chance of snowfall and colder temperatures. The average snowfall in Indiana ranges from 14 to 35 inches per year, with the northern part of the state receiving more snow.
