335 FXUS61 KILN 300615 AFDILN Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Wilmington OH 215 AM EDT Sun Aug 30 2026 .WHAT HAS CHANGED... No significant changes. && .KEY MESSAGES... 1) Dry conditions will continue with temperatures becoming hot. && .DISCUSSION... KEY MESSAGE 1) West northwest flow on the front side of building mid level high pressure will allow some weak impulses to track across the region through tomorrow. This will result in a fair amount of mid to high clouds, especially across northern counties. Still cannot completely rule out a few sprinkles coming of the mid deck, but probability of measurable rain is very remote. Center of the mid level high will move from the mid Mississippi Valley into the Tennessee Valley Tuesday into Wednesday. Temperatures across the region will peak during this time frame with highs in the lower to mid 90s and lows in the lower to mid 70s. The ridge will start getting suppressed on Thursday and moreso on Friday as a trough develops from eastern Canada into New England. As this happens, it may cause a front to sag into the region which at the very least will bring the potential for some convection. However, hot conditions may persist into Thursday, especially across southern areas, before easing off a bit area wide on Friday. It was early to mid July when temperatures this high were experienced across the region. Very few days reached even 90 in August. So, although it is not unusual to be hot in early September, most people will not be acclimated to such high temperatures at this point in time. This will bring about some heat stress, especially for those working outside or who do not have access to air conditioned spaces. && .AVIATION /06Z SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/... Considerable mid and high cloud cover will pass across the area through the period. This makes it questionable whether there will be any visibility restrictions at KLUK, but kept a temporary lower condition. Expect at least some daytime cumulus area wide as well. Mountain & avalanche safety

Know before you go
Check today's avalanche bulletin from the regional avalanche center before any off-piste / side-country / backcountry travel. Conditions can shift dramatically between morning and afternoon on storm days.
Carry the gear, know how to use it
Beacon, shovel, probe. Practice companion rescue on a calm day, not during a real burial.
Mind the weather window
Heavy snow + wind builds wind slabs at ridgelines. The day after a storm is often the riskiest in the backcountry, even if the resort itself is open.
Respect closed terrain
Ropes are there for a reason. Even in-bounds, ducking a closure can trigger a slide that catches you and others below.

FAQ

About Perfect North Slopes

Where does the snow data for Perfect North Slopes come from?

Snowpack, SWE, 24-hour snowfall, and air temperature come from the nearest USDA NRCS SNOTEL station. Forecast comes from the National Weather Service / yr.no feed that Snoflo's iOS app uses.

How often is the snow report updated?

Snowpack and SNOTEL data are updated continuously by NRCS (typically hourly). The 15-day weather forecast is refreshed throughout the day. Snoflo caches and renders the most recent observation -- look for the "as of" timestamp on the snowpack hero.

What's the elevation at Perfect North Slopes?

See the Resort Metrics panel above for base / summit / vertical drop. The summit elevation drives snowpack accumulation -- higher summits hold snow longer through spring.

How is "% of normal" calculated?

Today's snowpack is compared to the average snowpack on this calendar day across every recorded year at the nearest SNOTEL. 100% means right on average; 130% is a big year; 60% is thin.

What ski resorts are near Perfect North Slopes?

See the Other Ski Areas pill grid at the bottom of the page for resorts within driving distance. The sister Other Ski Areas card in the Plan-a-longer-trip grid above shows the closest few.

Can I get alerts when fresh snow hits?

Yes -- snow alerts are managed in the Snoflo iOS app. Favorite this resort, set a snowfall threshold (e.g. "alert me when 6+ inches"), and you'll get a push the moment the SNOTEL crosses.
