About this campground

Gateview Campground

Gateview Campground is located in Colorado's Rocky Mountain National Park. It is situated at an elevation of 8,000 feet and offers stunning views of the nearby mountains, including Longs Peak, which is the highest peak in the park. The campground is open from late May to early September and has 30 sites available for tents and RVs up to 30 feet in length.

The nearby points of interest include the Trail Ridge Road, which is the highest continuous paved road in the United States, and the Alpine Visitor Center, which offers exhibits on the park's ecosystem and history. Additionally, the area is popular for hiking, with several trails nearby, including the North Inlet Trail, the Green Mountain Trail, and the Tonahutu Creek Trail.

The campground amenities include picnic tables, fire rings, and toilets. There is no running water or electricity available, so visitors will need to bring their own water and supplies. The campground is pet-friendly, but dogs must be kept on a leash at all times.

Interesting facts about the area include that it was designated as a national park in 1915 and has over 355 miles of hiking trails. Additionally, the park is home to over 60 species of mammals, including elk, moose, and black bears.

The best time of year to visit the Gateview Campground is from late June to early September, as this is when the weather is most favorable. In June, the average high temperature is around 60 degrees Fahrenheit, while in September, it's around 68 degrees Fahrenheit. However, visitors should be prepared for sudden changes in weather and should pack warm clothing and rain gear.
