Special Weather Statement
None

A prolonged period of colder than average temperatures and gusty northerly winds is expected to continue across much of Southcentral over the next several days. Strong winds will be most favored through mountain gaps and passes, including Broad Pass, Thompson Pass, Resurrection Bay, Passage Canal and the Matanuska Valley. Air temperatures will range from the negative 10s to 10s above as Arctic air continues to build over the region, with the coldest temperatures likely over interior valleys and where winds remain light. Wind chill temperatures could dip as low as 10 to 20 degrees below zero at times, possibly even lower near Thompson Pass. Use caution while traveling outside and wear appropriate clothing for very cold temperatures during outdoor activities. Stay tuned for additional updates at weather.gov/AFC.
