In the central Idaho mountains, including the towns of Stanley, Ketchum, and Hailey, amounts will range from 5 inches at the lowest elevation to more than 24 inches on the very highest peaks. For the areas bordering Utah, expect 1 inch at the lowest elevations to more than 20 on the highest peaks in that area. Suicide Falls is a Class V rapid that requires expert-level skills and should only be attempted by experienced kayakers. Trashcan is a large hydraulic feature that can be dangerous if not navigated properly.

Specific regulations for this area include a requirement for all boaters to wear a personal flotation device and a helmet. Additionally, motorized watercraft are not allowed on this section of the river.
