The Whitewater River Run, from NF Boundary to Confluence with Trent River, is a popular destination for whitewater enthusiasts in North Carolina. The ideal streamflow range for this section of the river is between 300 and 800 cubic feet per second (cfs), with the optimal range being around 500-600 cfs.

This section of the river is rated as a class III-IV, with several challenging rapids and obstacles for experienced kayakers and rafters. The segment mileage is approximately 4.5 miles, with the run taking an average of 2-3 hours to complete.

Some of the notable rapids and obstacles on this stretch of the river include Rapid Transit, The Final Exam, and the Narrows. Rapid Transit is a technical rapid with several drops and tight turns, while The Final Exam is a steep, narrow chute that requires precise maneuvering. The Narrows is a scenic gorge with large boulders and rock formations.

It is important to note that there are specific regulations and guidelines for this area. Visitors are required to obtain a permit from the Nantahala National Forest Service, and there are restrictions on the number of people and boats allowed on the river at one time. Additionally, all visitors are required to wear a personal flotation device (PFD) and follow Leave No Trace principles to protect the natural environment.
