Designed by USDA NRCS and completed in 1958, this earth-type dam stands at a height of 35 feet and stretches 1650 feet in length. Its primary purpose is flood risk reduction along Bluff Creek, with a storage capacity of 2529 acre-feet and a normal storage level of 713 acre-feet.
Managed by the Oklahoma Water Resources Board, SCS-Wildhorse Creek Site-027 has a controlled spillway and one valve outlet gate. Despite being rated as low hazard potential and not having a condition assessment, the dam is considered to have a very high risk level, possibly due to its last inspection dating back to 1980. With a maximum discharge capacity of 3220 cubic feet per second, this structure plays a critical role in flood control efforts in the region and highlights the importance of regular maintenance and risk management measures for water resource and climate enthusiasts.
