No reservations or fees are required, but a campfire permit is needed. There are no toilets, water, picnic tables, or hookups, but fire rings may be found at some spots. Access is via a rugged 4x4 trail; high-clearance vehicles are essential. Campers enjoy a secluded, high-alpine experience with stunning lakeside views, surrounded by pine forests and granite peaks. Popular nearby attractions include the Gold Lake Trailhead, Sierra Buttes, and dozens of other lakes. Best visited from late June to early October, when snow has melted and roads are passable.
