Long Lake, located in Routt County, Colorado, is a vital water supply reservoir with a capacity of 595 acre-feet and a surface area of 57 acres. Built in 1942, it serves as a key source of water for the city of Steamboat Springs and is regulated by the Colorado Department of Water Resources. The dam, standing at 20 feet high, is primarily an earth structure with stone core types and rests on rock and soil foundations.

With a high hazard potential but a satisfactory condition assessment, Long Lake has undergone modifications in 1997 for hydraulic improvements and in 2000 for structural enhancements. The spillway, measuring 120 feet in width, is uncontrolled, allowing for a maximum discharge of 297 cubic feet per second. Despite its moderate risk assessment, the reservoir has met regulatory requirements for inspection, permitting, and enforcement, ensuring its continued reliability for water resource management in the region.
