Completed in 1968, this earth dam stands at 29 feet high and spans 4250 feet in length, with a storage capacity of 5860 acre-feet. The dam's primary purpose is flood risk reduction on the Middle River, with a drainage area of 10.3 square miles and a maximum discharge capacity of 5400 cubic feet per second.
The dam features an uncontrolled spillway with a width of 23 feet and outlet gates that are also uncontrolled. Despite being in fair condition as of the last assessment in 2015, the dam has a high hazard potential due to its location and design. Regular inspections are conducted, with a frequency of every 2 years, to ensure the dam's structural integrity and safety for the surrounding area. While the risk assessment indicates a moderate risk level, the dam is crucial for mitigating flood risks in the region and protecting the local community from potential disasters.
