Craven Detention, also known as Tracey-Sinn Detention Structure, is a privately owned flood risk reduction dam located in Saratoga, Winona County, Minnesota. Designed by the USDA NRCS, this earth dam stands at a height of 31 feet and stretches for 510 feet, providing a storage capacity of 93 acre-feet for the Trout Run-TR river or stream. Completed in 1981, Craven Detention plays a vital role in mitigating flood risks in the area.

Managed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Craven Detention has a low hazard potential and is currently in satisfactory condition as of the last assessment in October 2010. With a moderate risk level of 3, the dam has a spillway width of 50 feet and an uncontrolled spillway type. Despite its age, the dam continues to meet state regulatory standards for inspection, permitting, and enforcement, ensuring its continued effectiveness in flood risk reduction.

While Craven Detention has not undergone any modifications in recent years, it is subject to regular inspections every 8 years to monitor its structural integrity. With its strategic location and design, this privately owned dam serves as a crucial asset in safeguarding the surrounding area from potential flooding events, highlighting the importance of effective water resource management in the face of climate change challenges.
