SCS-Rush Creek Site-047, also known as Rush Creek, Site No 47, is a state-owned structure located in Garvin County, Oklahoma.
Managed by the USDA NRCS, this earth dam was completed in 1965 for the primary purpose of flood risk reduction along the TR-Rush Creek. Standing at a height of 38 feet with a hydraulic height of 35 feet, this dam has a storage capacity of 200 acre-feet and a normal storage level of 53 acre-feet.
Despite being categorized as low hazard potential, the risk assessment for SCS-Rush Creek Site-047 indicates a very high risk of failure, warranting the attention of the state regulatory agency, OWRB. The dam features a controlled spillway and a single valve outlet gate for water release. With a surface area of 9 acres and a length of 820 feet, this structure plays a crucial role in managing water flow and reducing flood risks in the region. However, with the last inspection date dating back to 1980, there is a need for regular monitoring and maintenance to ensure its structural integrity and continued effectiveness in flood control efforts.
