Red Bluff Reservoir is a man-made reservoir located on the Pecos River in western Texas. It was created in 1936 by damming the river to provide irrigation water for surrounding agricultural lands. The hydrology of the reservoir relies on the flow of the Pecos River and precipitation, including snowpack, in the surrounding area. The reservoir is managed by the Red Bluff Water Power Control District and provides irrigation water to over 100,000 acres of farmland. It also serves as a recreational area for fishing, boating, and camping. The reservoir is home to several species of fish, including largemouth bass and catfish. The water flow in the reservoir is also important for maintaining the health of the riparian ecosystem along the Pecos River.
