Chizmar, located in Rutland, Vermont, is a privately owned dam with a primary purpose of recreation. Constructed in 1971 by the USDA NRCS, this earth dam stands at a height of 16 feet and has a dam length of 203 feet. With a maximum storage capacity of 66 acre-feet and a surface area of 12 acres, Chizmar is situated on the Lake Bomoseen-TR river. Despite being categorized as having a low hazard potential, its condition assessment in 2018 was rated as fair.

Managed by the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation, Chizmar is regularly inspected to ensure its safety and compliance with state regulations. The dam is equipped with an uncontrolled spillway and is considered to have a moderate risk level. Although no emergency action plan (EAP) has been prepared as of the last update in 2018, the dam's risk management measures are continuously being assessed. With its picturesque location in Castleton, Chizmar serves as both a recreational spot and a critical water resource for the surrounding area, attracting water resource and climate enthusiasts alike.
