About the Area


Campgaw Mountain Ski Resort in New Jersey is located in the Ramapo Mountains, a subrange of the Appalachian Mountains. The highest point in the Ramapo Mountains is Campgaw Mountain, which stands at an elevation of 1,460 feet. The ski resort features several slopes and trails that cater to skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels, with the longest trail being approximately 0.5 miles in length. The mountain offers a vertical drop of 270 feet and boasts a variety of terrain features, including moguls, jumps, and terrain parks.

The best trails include the Upper and Lower Whiskey trails for advanced skiers, as well as the Meadow and Sunrise trails for beginners. An interesting fact is that Campgaw Mountain is the only ski resort in Bergen County and was originally built as a WPA project during the Great Depression. For beginners, the resort offers group and private lessons with experienced instructors. The best apres ski bar is the Red Tail Lodge, which offers a cozy atmosphere, delicious food, and drinks.
