The campground offers basic amenities such as potable water, pit toilets, and fire rings. There are no RV hookups, showers, or dump stations available at the site. The campground operates on a first-come-first-serve basis and has a total of 52 campsites.

One quirky fact about the area is that it was once used as a hideout by the infamous bandit Joaquin Murrieta in the mid-1800s.

The best time to visit Tamarack Flat Camping Area is during the summer months between June and September when the temperatures range from 70-80°F during the day and drop to 50-60°F at night. Visitors should be prepared for occasional thunderstorms and high winds during this time of year.
