Vrain State Park near Longmont, Colorado. This park features several stocked ponds—best spots include Blue Heron, Sandpiper, and Coot ponds. Shore fishing is excellent with multiple access points and fishing piers; no boats are allowed on most ponds. Anglers catch rainbow trout, largemouth bass, channel catfish, and bluegill. Trout bite well in spring and fall on PowerBait or spinners; bass prefer soft plastics near structure in summer. Catfish respond to cut bait or chicken liver in warmer months. Fishing is best early morning or late evening. The park has parking, restrooms, and trails for easy access.
