In the central Idaho mountains, including the towns of Stanley, Ketchum, and Hailey, amounts will range from 5 inches at the lowest elevation to more than 24 inches on the very highest peaks. For the areas bordering Utah, expect 1 inch at the lowest elevations to more than 20 on the highest peaks in that area. The Pine Creek to Riley Diversion section of the Whitewater River in Idaho is a popular destination for kayakers and rafters. The ideal streamflow range for this section is between 1,000 and 3,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) during the spring and early summer. This section is classified as Class IV and has a total segment mileage of 6.5 miles.

The Pine Creek Rapid is the main obstacle on this section, which is a steep and technical Class V rapid that requires advanced paddling skills. Other notable rapids include The Lunch Counter, Big Kahuna, and The Wave. It is important to note that this section of the river is only suitable for experienced paddlers and rafters.

The area is regulated by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and requires a permit for commercial use. Additionally, all private boaters must have a personal flotation device (PFD) and all boats must have a throwable PFD and a whistle. It is also important to be aware of the Leave No Trace principles and to pack out all trash and waste.
