Paonia Reservoir is a man-made lake located near the town of Paonia in Colorado. It was created in 1962 by the construction of the Paonia Dam on the Muddy Creek. The reservoir covers an area of 334 acres and has a maximum depth of 120 feet. The primary purpose of the reservoir is to provide water for irrigation to nearby agricultural lands. The water is also used for municipal and industrial purposes. The reservoir is fed by surface flow from Muddy Creek and snowpack from the surrounding mountains. The reservoir is a popular spot for recreational activities such as boating, fishing, and camping.
