Lower Pelzer is a gravity dam located in Greenville, South Carolina, near the Duke Steam Plant on the Saluda River. Built in 1893 for hydroelectric purposes, the dam stands at a height of 37.7 feet with a hydraulic height of 41.7 feet. It has a structural height of 42.9 feet and a length of 546 feet, serving a drainage area of 411 square miles. The dam has a maximum discharge capacity of 29,400 cubic feet per second and a storage capacity of 400 acre-feet, with a normal storage level of 160 acre-feet.
