Dad's Lake Dam, also known as Matney Dam in the past, is a privately owned structure located in Stevens County, Washington.
Built in 1976 by Randy Hahn Engineering, this earth dam stands at a hydraulic height of 32 feet and serves primarily for water supply purposes. The dam has a normal storage capacity of 310 acre-feet and is situated on Joe Creek, near Waneta B.C. in Canada.
With a hazard potential classified as "High," Dad's Lake Dam has been rated as being in satisfactory condition as of the last assessment in February 2018. The dam spans 1230 feet in length and covers a surface area of 40 acres, with a drainage area of 3.4 square miles. The structure has a maximum discharge capacity of 800 cubic feet per second and is regulated by the Washington Department of Ecology, with state permitting, inspection, and enforcement in place.
Despite its age, Dad's Lake Dam continues to play a crucial role in water management in the region, ensuring a stable water supply for both recreational and domestic use. As an essential component of the local water infrastructure, ongoing monitoring and maintenance efforts are vital to safeguarding the surrounding communities against potential risks associated with this significant water resource.
