The campground is situated near several points of interest, including the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest, which is home to some of the oldest living trees in the world, and the Alabama Hills, where many Hollywood films have been shot.
The campground offers various amenities, including picnic tables, fire rings, and vault toilets. There are also several nearby hiking trails, fishing spots, and a visitor center. The campground operates on a first-come-first-serve basis, and has 9 campsites available.
An interesting fact about the area is that the Tree of Heaven, which the campground is named after, is actually an invasive species that was introduced to the United States from China in the late 1700s. Despite its invasive status, it has often been used in traditional Chinese medicine.
The best time to visit the Tree of Heaven camping area is during the summer months, from June to August, when the average temperature ranges from 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and 40-50 degrees Fahrenheit at night. Visitors should be prepared for cooler temperatures at higher elevations and pack accordingly.
