Located in Greenville, South Carolina, the River Oaks Retreat Center Dam, also known as the Assemblys of God Dam, is a private earth dam with a primary purpose of recreation.
Built in 1971 by the USDA NRCS, this dam stands at 35 feet high and spans 325 feet in length, creating a storage capacity of 62 acre-feet. The dam overlooks the TR-Saluda River and is under the regulatory oversight of the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.
Despite its low hazard potential, the dam's condition assessment in 2017 was deemed poor. While it has not undergone any modifications in recent years, regular inspections are conducted every five years to ensure its safety and integrity. Although the dam has uncontrolled spillways and outlet gates, its risk assessment is categorized as moderate.
