W. Kerr Scott Reservoir, located in Wilkes County, North Carolina, was constructed in 1962 as a flood control and water supply project by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The dam impounds the Yadkin River, creating a 1,475-acre reservoir with 55 miles of shoreline. The reservoir is maintained by a drainage area of 1,200 square miles and receives water from several small streams, including Reddies River, Fishing Creek, and Elk Creek.
