Minnesota is experiencing a dangerous heat event July 25-26, with multiple Extreme Heat Warnings and Heat Advisories in effect across the state. The Twin Cities metro area (Hennepin, Ramsey, Dakota, Scott, Washington, Anoka, and Carver Counties) faces the most severe conditions, with heat index values reaching 105-110°F Sunday and dangerously low overnight temperatures in the mid-to-upper 70s. Central and south-central Minnesota, including areas around St. Cloud and surrounding counties, will see heat indices of 107-112°F. Northwest and west-central Minnesota will experience heat indices up to 103°F. Heat-related illnesses are expected to increase significantly during this extreme heat and high humidity event. Additionally, conditional severe weather threats including tornadoes and large hail are possible Sunday evening. Residents should stay hydrated, seek air-conditioned shelter, check on vulnerable populations, and monitor weather updates closely.
