Connecticut residents should prepare for significant flooding risks through Sunday afternoon, September 13th. A Flood Watch remains in effect for southern Connecticut counties including Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, and New London, with the heaviest rainfall expected late Saturday night into Sunday morning. The National Weather Service forecasts 1-2 inches of rain with localized amounts reaching 3-5 inches possible, with peak hourly rates of 2-2.5 inches during thunderstorms. Major population centers including Bridgeport, New Haven, Stamford, and Waterbury should exercise caution as excessive runoff may cause flash flooding in poor drainage areas, rivers, creeks, and low-lying flood-prone locations. Residents are urged to avoid flooded roadways and monitor weather updates closely.
