Major flooding is currently occurring along the Wapsipinicon River near De Witt, affecting Scott and Clinton Counties in eastern Iowa. The Flood Warning remains in effect until Thursday, October 1st at 5:00 PM CDT. At 12.6 feet as of Saturday evening, water levels are already impacting old U.S. Highway 61 near the river. Residents in De Witt and surrounding communities should avoid flooded roadways and remain alert for rapidly changing conditions. The river is expected to fall below flood stage Thursday morning and continue declining through the weekend. Those in affected areas should monitor updates from the National Weather Service Quad Cities office and heed all evacuation orders.
